On May 25th, Hollins University held their 172nd commencement ceremony, with an impassioned address from alumna Nancy Goldsmith-Vein. I was honored to receive my Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting at the commencement.
Exactly what I'm commencing, I'm not entirely certain. A move to L.A.? A faculty position? Another independent film? All of the above?
Whatever it is, I feel prepared. Having studied with some of the most respected screenwriting instructors in the world, supported by an institution renowned for its literary heritage, I feel ready to embrace the next challenge, the next script, the next moment.
It is not so much that I think I have "found my voice," but rather that I have found the courage to speak up, to speak clearly, and to speak truth. Listen well. You'll hear more from me.
