Busy Week Ahead!

I'm never quite sure why, but it seems that everyone always wants to hire me on the same days!  If they could try to schedule around each other a bit better, it would be helpful...

Nonetheless, I'm ecstatic to be working with one the top-rated shows on television this coming week (though I can't name the show because of the NDA I signed).  It will be a great experience, though, and I will get to meet some major stars.  Then, after my class on Wednesday, I'll spend the rest of the week working on a show with TruTV.

That has put me in the unfortunate position of saying "no" to a commercial that is also shooting this week.  However, I am sending the commercial producers recommendations for PAs, Swings, Crafty and Catering, so if you fit the bill... well, you know how to email me.

Shane Smith and I have been busy each weekend, continuing to edit "Banks of the Vltava."  We are getting close to a picture-edit, so that only leaves ADR, Sound FX, Scoring, CGI, Titles... Uh, okay, we still have a ways to go.  But we look forward to having the film ready for a January 2011 release!

And the last bit of film news for me:  "A Study in Red" will be screening at the Buffalo Screams Film Festival.  This will be the same weekend as the Terror Film Festival in Philadelphia.  I'm not sure how I will split up my multiple personalities to cover both fests, but since we are up for awards at both, I

I was delightfully surprised the other day to receive an email from the Terror Film Festival, notifying me that our short film "A Study in Red" has been nominated for a CLAW Award and will be screening October 19-23 in Philadelphia.  We look forward to attending the festival.

With the assistance of my friend and cohort, Shane Smith, we completed my new directing reel.  I hope you enjoy it!  It gives a pretty good overview of all the filmmaking I've done since I finished school in 2001.  Feel free to offer your feedback!

And I hope you'll stay tuned for more adventures!

Remaining Independent!

Labor Day Weekend was spent laboring!  I worked with my good friend and fellow filmmaker, Matthew Mandarano on his independent short film "Beyond the Door."  Based on a story by Phillip K. Dick, Matt wrote, produced and directed; I co-produced and served as the 1st AD on set.  With a talented crew and cast, including DP Jeff Stepp, and actors Lisa Sain Odom, Reid Dalton and Elijah Chester.  While it was some long, hard days, we got some wonderful footage, and I look forward to a great film!

I then turned right around to work with independent filmmaker Justin Kuhn on his feature film eXploder.  I played a humanoid robot bent on killing, so really it was type-casting...  After a substantial body-count, I finally got blasted by a "lightning gun."  For the shot, I covered myself with fireplace ash and set my shirt on fire.  The last take went a little long, and my chest is now short a few hairs...  Ah, the sacrifice we make for art.

I look forward to a quiet week ahead, focusing on my MFA studies at Hollins University and screenplays I'm writing.

Make good films, everyone!
